The Ecosystem Services Team
The various Ecosystem Services programmes are managed by WLT’s Ecosystem Services team:
- Roger Wilson – Senior Conservationist: Special Conservation Initiatives. Roger is the Ecosystem Services team’s technical expert and has helped design this programme. He has a long history of working with the WLT, being the first Manager of Programme for Belize’s Rio Bravo Carbon Sequestration Pilot Project. He now works with WLT on project design, management and the evolution of the overall Ecosystem Services programme of activities.
- Rebecca Absalom – Senior Conservation Programmes Officer: Ecosystem Services. Rebecca is responsible for the administration, development and management of WLT’s Ecosystem Services projects, currently with special focus on Tree-planting and Validated REDD+ activities, including REDD+ Training.
- Neil Williams – Carbon Programme Officer. Neil manages the Carbon Balanced programme, and is the the primary point of contact for all carbon-related enquiries.
Scientific support for the Carbon Balanced programme of the Ecosystem Services team is supplied by:
- Dr. Dominick Spracklen is a Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds. His work focuses on interactions between the atmosphere and biosphere such as the impacts of climate change on forest fires. He advises WLT on the scientific base of the Carbon Balanced programme. His particular input is in the processes of carbon sequestration and in carbon inventory and monitoring.
In addition, WLT runs an internship programme and, in collaboration with the University of East Anglia, a diploma course in conservation and project administration. Both interns and diploma students contribute in various ways to the Ecosystem Services work.
